Poulet bicyclette is the traditional village chicken of West Africa: a slow-growing local breed raised outdoors by small farmers. Its meat is firmer and leaner than broiler chicken, with a deeper flavour that holds up to long cooking. Cooks choose it for peanut and palm-nut sauces, kedjenou, pepper soups and grills, and many customers ask for it by name. The birds are slaughtered under veterinary inspection.
How we supply it:
- Three sizes: 0.8 kg, 1 kg and 1.2 kg per bird (1.8, 2.2 and 2.6 lbs).
- Oven-ready: plucked and eviscerated, head and feet removed, priced per bird.
- Packed in boxes, chilled or frozen after slaughter and delivered in an unbroken cold chain by refrigerated truck.
- Minimum order: 10 birds. Birds are collected from village farms, so we confirm available volumes before each delivery.
