Starfruit, or carambola, grows on small trees in the gardens and orchards of southern Togo. Its five ribs give each slice a star shape, so it often ends up on fruit platters, desserts, cocktails and garnishes. The flesh is crisp and very juicy, with a refreshing sweet-tart taste.
The fruits are picked as they turn from green to golden yellow, then sorted by size and checked for bruises on the delicate ribs.
How we supply them:
- Two sizes, about 200 g and 300 g per fruit.
- Three lot formats: basket (20 kg), crate (50 kg) and pallet (200 kg), in ventilated cartons with protective liners.
- Kept at 8–10 °C. The ribs bruise easily, so we ship starfruit by air freight during the June to November season.
Every lot is traceable to the farm.
Volumes for the coming season can be booked now.
